I’m looking for a like-minded professional to team up with and rent a quality place together in Darwin. I’m aiming for a higher standard of living, so I’m searching for someone who’s comfortable with a weekly rent between $400-$600.

What I’m Looking For:

Professional and Stable Income: Since we're looking at a higher budget, I’m seeking someone with a stable income who can manage the rent comfortably.
LGBTQIA+ Friendly: As a queer man, I’m keen on creating a home that’s safe, open, and inclusive for all.
Clean & Respectful: Ideally, you’re someone who appreciates a tidy, peaceful environment but is relaxed and easygoing day-to-day.
Non-Smoker Preferred: Smoking and illicit drugs are a no-go, but social drinking and weed in moderation are fine.
Mid to Long-Term Commitment: I’m planning on a 6-12 month lease to start, with the intention to stay long-term if everything works out.
The Home: I’m aiming for a spacious, well-maintained place with good natural light, close to amenities, and ideally with an ensuite or extra parking space (we can adjust rent accordingly). I’d be open to adding a third person if we find a larger place, and I’m happy to manage everything through a real estate agency to keep things straightforward and professional.

Important Personal Qualities

For me, a good flatmate is someone who’s respectful, considerate, and easygoing in shared living spaces. I value open communication, so it’s important that we can talk through any issues calmly and maintain a friendly atmosphere. A flatmate who keeps things tidy and organized, especially in common areas, is a big plus. While I’m laid-back, I do appreciate a balance between personal space and the occasional chat or shared meal.

Someone who’s reliable and responsible with bills and rent, and who treats the space like a home, would be ideal. Lastly, as I’m LGBTQIA+ and culturally diverse, it’s key to me that my flatmate is open-minded and respectful of different backgrounds.

Food Sharing and Furniture

I love to cook, especially Thai food, and I’m definitely happy to share meals from time to time—especially if you enjoy spicy food! That said, I’m also respectful of personal spaces and belongings, so if you prefer to keep food separate, I’m totally fine with that too. It’s all about finding what works best for both of us.

As I’m moving from interstate, I don’t have any furniture with me, so if you’re already in Darwin and have furniture, that would be a huge plus. Otherwise, I’m open to finding a furnished place together or even acquiring items if we need to. I’m flexible and open-minded on that front!
