Description of the home
G’day good eggs,
The house:
We’re looking for someone to join our house in Preston. It’s a beautiful wood-floored semi-open plan house with a big L-shaped lounge we like to lounge in, but the doors allow us to keep things partitioned when necessary. The house is sizable to the extent we will likely never feel too cramped in each other’s space. It’s also fairly well-appointed already in terms of furniture (except the available room), so we’d prefer to incorporate plants ahead of furniture at this point.
The kitchen is functional (gas stove, decent storage) despite being on the cosier side and the bathroom is spacious with a deep bath. The garden is full of wattlebirds, the grass is lush, there’s plenty of space, and scope for further gardening. We are a stone’s throw from a nice community-feeling park (Ruthven Reserve), Northland (the Land) and Darebin Creek.
We use Splitwise to split bills and some communal purchases.
The room:
The room is on a long hallway between the kitchen and the bathroom, not neighbouring another bedroom. It features a sizable built-in wardrobe and would fit a queen bed and small desk comfortably. For reference, the blue rug pictured is the size of a queen bed.
Please email and include a suitable contact detail, FB, IG, or email address.

Tobias is a maker of uncanny ability and diversity. He is in the final throws of a Cert IV in textile design, is looking forward to a double vax summer, and is excited about filling his room with more plants.
Lachlan is a champion of community-led renewable energy and enjoys oscillating between cooking, gardening, music and movement. He is pretty hyped about the Salvia genus and likes things made of cast iron, wool and wood.
The lifestyle:
We are both homebodies who like to potter around, drifting in and out of each other’s days, having good chats, and occasionally working/hanging out/frisbeeing together. We have lived together previously so we have an easy-going and open dynamic. We don’t have any formalised cleaning roster, we just value a nice space and help each other out in looking after it.
We tend to share food happily and incidentally but tend not to have communal meals. We’re not strict vegetarians but don’t eat much meat. We also value living with resource efficiency and sustainability in mind, so aligning with those values is important.
