Home Description

Description of the home

Home sweet home is a multi-storied modern townhouse a hundred meters from Port Melbourne/Albert park beach. Fully furnished shared living and communal areas on 2nd floor, bright and light spaces, multiple balconies with street, city and bay views. bedroom to let is on ground floor.

All modern conveniences and creature comforts (heating, cooling, hot water, cold water, refrigerator, oven, stove, washer, dryer, entertainment unit, internet, etc etc etc. all that's missing is the on call butler; and you.

There is on-street permit free parking, and off street parking if required.

Located halfway between bay street and Victoria avenue shops and cafes. you won't need to go far but if you do, the city is just at your doorstep. There are multiple parks and gyms nearby, and open spaces galore. safe, friendly, quiet suburb with yuppies/young families. on a main street so you hear the occasional automobile passing by but that hasn't been a problem for us. pet free, but there is a quiet baby that lives 3 floors above somewhere and one neighbour practices the saxophone on some weekends...

Bus stop into the city directly in front, and short walk from tram routes (about 5 mins to route 1 and 15mins to the 109; 96 as well if you have longer legs).

Bills and expenses

cooking gas and hot water is included in rent so it's technically free ( you're welcome but don't go taking 4 hour showers or start a catering business at home just because you can ). electricity bill comes with a 30% discount, and unlimited internet for about 20+ pax a month.
so realistically it is just water and sewage, electricity and internet divided between the number of occupants.
we also have a cleaner come in for all common areas, all bathrooms and general cleaning in your bedroom if you request (40 per pax, once a fortnight).

About the occupants
Ben. From Southeast Asia and in Australia for over a decade. Speaks a bit of this and a bit of that . chronologically 41, mentally 15, physically 82 on some days. gainfully over employed healthcare professional. Studying part time working full time. usually out at work, school, or with friends. not always home but when i do, I'm quite a homebody. quirky and irreverent sense of humour. not always PC, never NQR, mostly quiet and busy, coincidentally INFJ, value TLC and prefer someone(s) GLBTIQ friendly. likes socialism, quiet nights, pizza, costco, dogs, babies, bad humour, chocolate anythings, cooking, killing houseplants, and other inane things.

We are a social and friendly bunch, but value our privacy and own space. you are welcome to have friends and family over and we do the occasional party/social gathering but the place is big enough that you have your own space and privacy wherever you want it.

You will be replacing a dear and good friend, who is like family that has to move overseas; so you have big shoes to fill. we would like you to consider this a home; rather than just a place to rest your weary head and store your stuff.

lukas - occupation baby. lives up,upstairs from you, maybe you've seen him before. mostly well behaved and quiet and usually keeps to his own. socialises between naps, body functions and eating. loves cuddles and foxes and madonna.

rowan - Aussie oy oy oy. works in IT. lifelong melbournian. sporty and outdoorsy. values space and privacy. also studying part time. speaks australian english (g'day mate) and japanese. travels and loves adventure. homely and in front of tv most nights. have a beer with him and you can borrow his bicycle if you ask nicely.
Compatible people
sane, sorted, employed. preferably with a rental history or references (or a fabulous personality that makes that negligible). social enough to live together and make it work; but also happy to do your own thing, keep your own space and privacy when need be. easy going, good sense of humour, flexible and general awesomeness in the highest quartile.
