Home Description

Description of the home

Single fronted old Victorian style house in a very quiet leafy street located between Kerford Rd and Victoria Ave in Albert Park. 3 bedroom house with large partially furnished room available for rent (queen bed, desk, sitting chair, bedside drawer). Great size living room with couch and chair, large screen TV with Foxtel, connected to a smaller central sitting room with access to the kitchen / bathroom / laundry, also access to an open alcove on the side of the house used as a sitting area.

Kitchen (basic) and bathroom (shower over bath) are small though serviceable, with gas hot water and cooking with access through to the laundry room (wash tub, washing machine and dryer) which enters into the back yard. The back yard is a good size, has a good ole hills hoist clothes line, small grassed areas and garden beds, lemon tree, outdoor table, BBQ, outside toilet and access to the back laneway. The yard also has a small undercover (temporary) area with seating and outdoor heater. The house is also shared with two cats (which take care of themselves) and a few goldfish (though no additional pets allowed).

Plenty of free street parking (2 hrs Mon - Sat 8-5, Sunday untimed) though if long term parking is required an additional parking permit can be acquired (at cost) from Port Phillip City Council.

The house is located ~ 200m walk from the South Melbourne Beach, Albert Park Lake, MSAC and Albert Park shopping strip featuring cafe's, banks, atm's, IGA, restaurants and pub and is serviced by the # 1, 12 and 96 tram lines.

This is an older style home, with its charms and quirks, though is quite liveable and serviceable, in a great location close to the city and handy to the freeway & citylink.

About the occupants
My name is Mark, 41 year old single gay male, pretty cruisy and relaxed homey type guy. I work as an IT Business Analyst for Telstra Operations, though I'm not as geeky as that might sound (not that there is anything wrong with that!) - so I work pretty much a 9-5 M-F type work schedule.

I don't mind cooking an everyday meal, bake some cookies or a cake, a roast or bbq on occasions, though generally during the week I am pretty basic and take care of my own food. I have a small though loyal group of friends, not much of a party goer these days though don't mind a bit of fun and frivolity when the time or opportunity presents itself though these days mostly prefer to catch up with friends over a drink, bbq, picnic, wine and cheese at my place or theirs. I drink and I smoke (though outside).

I am looking for a employed, reliable, friendly, self sufficient, relaxed and independent person to share this older and quirky house with in a fabulous Albert Park location. I cant stress 'employed' and 'reliable' enough... been burnt a few times in my years and not wanting to deal with anything dodgy or dishonest.

Jerry - Jerry is a long term friend and ex whom is staying in the 3rd bedroom, 49yo & single. We have known each other for 10yrs, lived together previously and still get along well! Jerry has returned to Melbourne after a stint overseas, enjoying being back in the real world and job hunting. Being good friends, we share well though still do our own things too.
Compatible people
Honesty, openness and a friendly though quirky demeanour don't go astray with me. Someone with a good witt and sense of humour without too many overtones of arrogance. Independence with a well groomed sense of honour and respect for oneself and others. Knowing when to have fun, knowing when to have downtime and knowing what is a good balance. Someone clean and tidy, though not at an OCD kinda level, who can take care of themselves and also indulge in good flatmate banter and social interactions.
Description of pets
Mojito (obviously named after an enjoyed beverage) is a 9yr old cat who has lived in the house for 7 yrs, so he thinks it is his and tends to mostly have the attitude to match! He is a white and ginger male (desexed) who is either sleeping on a lounge chair, under a tree in the backyard or in one of the neighbours yards, spending most of his time outside except for food time and sleeping. Venus is a 1 year old female (desexed) cat who has lived in the house all of her life and is extremely easy going, loves cuddles.
