Home Description

Description of the home

Rare find!! Huge old 3 bed house, with leafy, flower filled front, side and back gardens with wide views of open ocean. Lots of character and features. Vintage styled throughout with lots of quirky objet d'arte (vintage bar, wheelbarrow fireplace in garden, industrial styled lighting etc). Old meets new with some mod-cons like dishwasher, washing machine, WIFI, large plasma TV with surround sound, gas cooker and fireplace, BBQ). This is really a fantastic, very spacious old charming house that is so rare to find in Sydney for rent these days.

We are perched on the hill behind Coogee, near to 'The Spot', Randwick. Great bus connections from doorstep to city/Surry Hills/ Maroubra/ Bondi Junction. Walk to beach or Woolworths in less than 10 mins. Cinema, lots of restaurants and a few bars on the door-step too (the Spot and Coogee Pavillion nearby). UNSW only a walk away. Plenty of street parking in quiet cul de sac. Seriously, this place is a gem. NEVER has anyone come here and not been jealous!

About the occupants
Ben (40 apparently, but you'd never know it) - a restaurant manager in fine diner 4 evenings per week with a few creative side projects on the go. We have lived here for two years and made a really beautiful, quirky home full of cool bits and pieces as we both like vintage things, and curiosities. Both housemates have lots in common sharing a love of good food, nice wine, exercise, the outdoors, good music (roots, blues, funk, jazz, latin, soul & hip-hop). Love a good movie on the surround sound occasionally too. Very social and enjoy a laugh in life over anything else. Definitely not scared of a few wines in the kitchen or over a bonfire in the back garden. Having lived with previous partners as well as in a fair few shared house environments we know how to be respectful of each other's space, and ask the same of any would-be housemate. Unless you work evenings too, you and I will rarely see each other except my Sun-Tues weekends. I promise a bit of a laugh when we do

Ryan - Ryan (31) - A keen and talented English chef who lives for food. He works breakfast and lunch shifts in Surry Hills 5 days per week. A mad keen fisherman, will take his boat out of the drive weekly on a day off, conditions permitting. Loves good wine and great food. Is in the kitchen nightly making something weird, wonderful and always impressive. And YES, he does love to share and cook for others! Loves a bit of fitness activity too, and balances it all out with a few wines of an evening before an early night with his work routine. Another fun, cheeky chappy who's always upbeat and up for a natter and some banter.
Compatible people
Looking for someone long term who is living her not passing through. NOT a backpacker party house. A nice, civilised person with a lust for life and a sense of humour. Not ideally looking for someone who constantly hides in their room, although we understand quiet time. We like our house to be pretty social. Not in a party way but just to share the space with other fun, passionate and creative people. We're not mad about having someone here who wants to sit in the lounge watching crappy TV or sports, as it's just not us. Responsible person who knows how to pay rent on time AND knows how to clean up after themselves is the most important. We want a chiller who knows how to have fun and share a part of this journey together.
