Home Description

Description of the home

My place is one of three terraces, only three years old, but designed in an old style fit the pattern language of this heritage precinct in Picton. It's built over three levels with off-street parking out the back and heaps on Station Street. Carpeted upstairs and timber-floored on the middle level. Fabulous kitchen with dishwasher and loads of storage space. The room I'm letting is a double bedroom upstairs. It has a huge built-in and views out over a pretty rural landscape. I'm a poet, and the house is full of books. There's a lovely bathroom (with bath) upstairs and a second bathroom downstairs.

The place is only 50 metres from Picton Station, so it'll suit someone who works locally or someone who needs to travel to Sydney, Campbelltown, the Southern Highlands—anywhere really—to work or study. Only an hour and a bit to the airport.

About the occupants
My name is Mark. I'm a poet and writer, with fifteen books to my name. As well as writing poems and books, I work (at home and out of it)at a range of freelance writing, mentoring and teaching roles. Naturally, I love books, and the house is furnished with many. I love art and music (classical, jazz, contemporary pop, electronic and blues). I follow sports, and watch them on the TV now and then. I have three younger children, who visit and stay occasionally, and two children in their twenties, one of whom lives in the UK, the other in Sydney. I love the outdoors and I'm deeply engaged with current affairs and environmental concerns.
Compatible people
I value personal integrity, intelligence, good humour and generosity. I like to converse, but I also value quietness and calm, and I need both for my work.
Description of pets
I have a cat, Sappho. She's young and pretty, affectionate and playful, but she'll stay out of your way if you're not into cats.
