Personal introduction
I’m have been a self-employed photographer since 2012, and recently became a videographer, too, and I am supplementing my income with support work as I slowly get ready to launch a completely new photography/video documentary business where I document, interview and photograph people in romantic relationships (if you’re curious about my photography portfolio let me know and I’ll shoot you my URL).

I currently living in Sassafras in a share house with lovely people who are great, but we are very different, and I’m looking for more shared interests and values in my house mates even as we respect each other’s independence and privacy.

Note: my creative work means I do a lot of admin and editing from home, but can do so from my bedroom. And I like to go to cafes regularly to get changes in my working environment.

I was a homeowner for a decade when I was married, and post-divorce (2019) was traveling and living short term in the UK and then the South West of Western Australia.

I have had an interesting career trajectory into a creative job since I actually have an economics degree, and worked in the professional services world (an international accounting firm) post-university, then the public service, before I set my first full-time photography business in my late 20’s.

I love to ask the “why’s” of things, whether life, the condition of the world, or of an individual person, so love big talks and chats. But am also great at small talk and very much respect personal space and boundaries, and value open and gentle communication about all things, and bring a respectful and kind presence to any situation.

I’m politically active and engage in social justice and activism, but genuinely don’t lecture at people, and I love hearing about the variety of opinions that exist around me because I think many of us are currently too insulated in our own echo chambers.

I love being in and exploring nature, and love animals. I’d say that nature is core to who I am as a person and to my spirituality. I’m very spiritual, but I’m very grounded by science and the realities of being in a messy human body in a messy physical world governed by messy human ideologies and institutions.

I don’t eat much dairy, pork or red meat, and try to only eat free range animal products, but I am comfortable with all kinds of diets that other people might have.

I also write experimental long form poetry and fiction, some with audiovisual elements, but will not force my fellow share housers to read or watch my work, don’t worry, I’m not cruel 😄

Note: I am only working part time (approx 20 hours a week) due to the pain condition fibromyalgia. I am in the process of getting on the DSP (Disability Support Pension) so I can work part time with financial support. I am still able to be productive and carry my weight around a household, I just need a few hours extra a week to rest my body so I don’t push myself into pain flareups. To ease the mind of any landlords, my professionally successful dad very kindly agrees to be a guarantor should that be helpful. I am also partly self-funded from my divorce payout.
Compatible people
Respectful, tidy, thoughtful, curious, genuinely interested in other people and their life stories and opinions, creative, relatively funny (feel free to laugh with or at), philosophical, caring, kind, intelligent.
Food sharing and furniture
Can bring my own high quality coffee machine! I’m have only some furniture, most of which I’m not emotionally attached to, but have my camera and video gear and computers etc, but they all stay in my room.

I don’t mind what others eat. As long as I can eat my routine breakfasts, and store some servings of bulk meals in the fridge or freezer I’m happy.
Description of pets
Whilst I don’t have my own right now, I would very much appreciate a house with pets. Life is better with them ☺️
