About this person
I’m a full time books editor at a small press in Carlton, a sometimes writer-critic reviewing books and films, and a former gender studies lecturer with some vaguely ongoing dabblings in that area. I typically work hard though scaling things back a bit to make more time for friends and fun, downtime, book time, cooking, gardening, exercise and inevitably some screen time. Can be a bit of a culture junkie — theatre, cinema, books & TV — until I run out of money. But I don’t run out of money! Which is to say that I’m a house trained graduate of grown up domestic home economics. I'm looking for the same level of responsibility and competency, though I understand that life (and households) can get a bit rough around the edges sometimes, too. I’m houseproud, I own plants and cookbooks and a few other nice odds and ends. But I can easily come with or without accouterments. I don’t mind a wine or three, and a robust dinner party on occasion. I’m open to suggestions and questions.
Compatible people
I like a good balance of communal and independent in a household. Spontaneous — and planned — convening for a meal or a drink is great, and household projects (gardening, bulk food buying, rearranging the mis en scene) keep me happy. But I know also that sometimes everyone needs to knuckle down and get on with life, love, mental health and work.
I’m accommodating, I’m aware of what’s going on for others around me, and I really appreciate it when my cohabitants are likewise. Aware people 👌
Households have ebbs and flows, and I don’t mind an intermittent (or regular) check-in to see where everyone is at.

Food sharing and furniture
I’m into sharing food! Or part sharing food. Or semi-sharing. Or not sharing. I've done them all, and found a comfy space in all models. I don't have a fixed vision for how this gets managed. I’m flexible, and have lived with a bunch of approaches — kittys and shopping lists, communal cooking and bulk food, rolling contributions, general generous or spontaneous sharing. I guess my default has been to share, cook and shop for others, but I can go through busy patches where I need to work to my own schedule. In general, I like a well stocked larder, with lots of healthy and delicious food. I’m down with most diets (veggie, paleo, vegan, glutard, FODMAP), eat *most* things, no longer a vegetarian but happy to entirely avoid — or eat very little — meat at home.
I have some cool living room furniture — a pretty delightful couch and some others bits and pieces — but they don’t necessarily have to come with me.

Description of pets
There’s a dog in my life, Mitchell the intrepid terrier hound, although he lives full-time with my mum now. They’re happy, and I’m happy. Would love a household open to him visiting on the odd ocassion, but it’s far from a key priority.
