Home Description

Description of the home

The room in question is detached as a Rumpus Room/Store located in the back garden of the property; A single roomspace with four power-outlets; and admittedly little climate-control. (You will need to purchase or have some form of cooling solution, but you are always welcome to be in the house where the AC is!)

The house itself is very small; with shared kitchen, bathroom and living spaces. We have a dishwasher; as well as everything you might need to cook a variety of meals. Preferencing a communal, open sort of living arrangement with our housemate.

Nearby 24/7 OTR. Just a short drive from Elizabeth Centre.

Home features

  • Dishwasher
  • Clothes washer
  • Courtyard, garden or yard

Bills and expenses

We have Electricity, Water and Internet. My mother and self believe that bills should be divided equally between all wherever possible.

With the option to consider shared cleaning services; but an ongoing cleaner assists my mother through aged care each wednesday who focuses on the kitchen/floors and specific tasks for her aged care needs.

About occupants
My name is William, I'm 31 and I work as a Full-Time Carer for my Mom.
The role includes a lot of organization, planning, initative and active problem-solving. I've been doing it for five years now; and it has been an absolute blessing.

In my spare time I like to garden, make art, write and play video games.

I enjoy my quiet and space; given to being quite introverted. I spend most of my time with my cat or my mom in life. Taking nature walks or working on house projects.

During the week, you will see my watering and gardening in the morning/afternoons. Likely on my computer writing, coding or otherwise pursuing some online form of engagement and skillbuilding. (Sometimes gaming!)

I love to cook meals and make drinks for people. I'm admittedly, very good at making mess - which means I've gotten pretty good at cleaning it, too! I try to keep communal spaces tidy and approachable for everyones daily use; but admittedly this can sometimes take a day or two to catch up on between the busier periods. Likewise; I am very forgiving of such mess, and will always offer to help clean up with you at the end of the day if we have the energy.

I'm Autistic/ADHD, with a few years of psychology and self-discipline starting to take root. I am extremely happy to have neurodivergent room-mates; and I will always be understanding of the struggles we can have as humans. Above all, I want to make a happy home and a place of sanctuary for everyone who lives inside it.

Hi, I'm Annette. I'm 67 and a pensioner.
I spend most of my time at home, taking life easier in my age and disability. Spending quality time with my animals; and chatting with my online friends.

I'm very big on human rights advocacy, as well as animal welfare. My hobbies include crafts, and I enjoy gaming much like my son. Though there is a big difference between mahjong and the types of games he plays on his PC!

I am unable to do much heavy lifting or physical tasks; mostly living a sedentary life with intermittent business.
Compatible people
A good flatmate for us, is somebody empathetic and honest. We tend to be very unfiltered people, keeping it real. All we seek is understanding and the mentality that we are a team working together to make this house a home. It comes with compromises; good communication skills and the heart to understand.

Beyond this core philosophy, An Ideal housemate for us is somebody who is fun, laid-back / easy-going.

As my mom is disabled and has limited ability to perform mobility -- I would be taking turns with them to clean communal areas like the kitchen, bathroom, toilet, laundry, livingroom and garden areas. I'm more than happy to actually do it side-by-side, too!

It is important to us we respect each others privacy and boundaries. Your friends are always welcome here! We only ask that we communicate about anything that might involve large disruptions to routine, or sensory needs like quiet; like parties etc, ahead of time. :)
Description of pets
Indoor/Outdoor
Smudge - White/Brown cat. Playful, Affectionate. Cautious of strangers. (usually!)
She loves to hunt bugs, and she attempts to hunt birds, or watch them precariously from the front yard. Smudge is a very special lady; always given to flights of whimsy and by my side (Will) when I am in the garden.

Ziggy - Black/Brown Cat. Affectionate, Stoic. Cautious of strangers. Our eldest cat of 12 years, Ziggy is my (Annette) special girl. She has always been like a mother to the dogs; spending most of her time by their sides and mine. She likes to cuddle; and is extremely shy to loud noises and 'unsafe' people -- taking a long time to warm up to others, but being shameless with her pursuit of affection when she knows you well!

Zander - Black/White Small Dog. Very affectionate! Very anxious. Cautious of strangers.
Zander is a very emotional pup; often seeming overwhelmed/sad and in need of cuddles and reassurance. He tends to bark a lot when he doesnt know a person, which indicates to us that he has some heightened anxieties. Xander is a very peaceful sort otherwise; usually near my moms side or likewise relaxing in the front garden.

Bobby - Black/Blonde Small Dog. Very affectionate! Looks after his little brother Xander. Cautious of strangers and more outgoing than his sibling. He designates himself the guardian of my mother and Xander. It's best we don't tell him he's very small and non-threatening at all, as he seems to think he is very much the 'big-dog'. Bobby tends to actually want even more attention than Xander, being a higher energy sort who engages with toys and likes to play!
