Home Description

Description of the home

Rooms Available in Spacious Intergenerational Country Home on 150 Acres – Flexible Setup (furnished/unfurnished room)

Looking for one (or more) housemates to share a beautiful, light-filled well insulated home on 150 acres of regenerating land near Newham.

This is a peaceful, nature-rich place with plenty of space to breathe — ideal for someone/people wanting a quieter, grounded lifestyle while still being connected to nearby towns. Sharing with a sole parent mother and her three year old- (who are used to hosting camps, campers, work awayers and wwoofers so can give you space as needed) and also some lovely lively warm-hearted and creative energy is also a given!

The house:
• 4 bedrooms and a caravan
• 3 toilets, 2 showers (including option for a more private/ensuite-style setup) and a bath tub in communal bathroom
• Large, airy living spaces with views over the dam and forest
• Can be partly furnished or unfurnished depending on your needs
We also have an amazing dance studio just up road to use vía barter.

Room options (flexible):
• Single room available
• Option for a more private/ensuite-style room for a bit extra

Happy to chat through what would feel most supportive for you.

The land & surrounds:
• 150+ acres with dam, open paddocks, and forest views
• 5–10 min walk to Cobaw Forest
• Trampoline + handmade adventure/play space in hay shed
• Veggie garden beginnings 🌱
• Access to a small studio overlooking the lake
• Caravan beside the house

There’s also an infrared sauna which may be included for housemate use.

Grandparents come by about once or twice a week. There is a smaller house not far from main house too- currently a lovely family we share meals and working bees with. We host a camp with approx 6 singers for a week three-four times a year and they eat dinner in our home 5pm & sing in forest & studio down road.

Location:
• 15 mins drive to Kyneton & Woodend
• 15 min bike ride to Newham Store

Details:
• Available from May 1st
• Rent will depend on room setup (approx. $200–$400/week)
• Bills shared (or can discuss an inclusive option with good Wi-Fi)

About occupants
We’re a mother and son household, and the home has a gentle, spacious rhythm. We’re only around about three days a week—my son spends time in kindergarten, daycare, and one day with his uncle—so there’s plenty of quiet and breathing room in the house. Very happy and willing to make space and remove items currently in communal spaces to make it more share-house friendly!

When we are home, our days are simple and cosy. We usually have dinner around 5pm and wind down for bed by 8pm. We love reading stories, playing, a bit of playful wrestling, and we speak Spanish together at home.

I really value a harmonious, connected living environment. I’m a clear and open communicator, and I genuinely enjoy having a sense of connection with the people I live with. It would feel important to share the space with someone who is warm-hearted, communicative, and open to occasional connection—while also respecting each other’s independence and space.
Compatible people
This home is best suited to a woman or woman-identifying person, or a couple/partnership looking for a peaceful place to land (including a man moving in with a partner). It’s a proudly LGBTQIA+ welcoming space.

I’m looking for someone who values open, kind communication and feels comfortable expressing needs and boundaries—especially in a home that includes a young child. My son is three, so it’s important that you feel at ease sharing space with him in a respectful, grounded, and friendly way.

This is a country home, with all the beauty and quiet that comes with it, so it would suit someone who enjoys a slower pace, nature, and a bit of breathing room.
Description of pets
Friendly and well trained cavoodle- good with other dogs.
