Details
The upstairs floor is all yours. It’s a cozy attic-style bedroom with beams and pressed tin ceilings, your own ensuite bathroom, and a private balcony with city views.

The room comes fully furnished, and I also have a mountain of storage so if you have furniture it's easy to swap it out. There’s a double bed, clothes rack, drawers, desk and chair, side tables, armchair, lamps, plants, vintage bits and pieces, even linen.

It’s completed secluded, with two whole floors and the mezzanine between our bedrooms, so you’ve got genuine privacy and no one walking past your door at all hours of the night (or ever).

While it's a three bedroom house, I'm the only other person living there. Occasionally I have a friend staying in my sewing room, which is next to my bedroom on the ground floor.

Equally open to shorter or longer term stays, it's all about the fit.

Home Description

Description of the home

This is the most beautiful house I've ever set foot in.

It’s one of six terraces in a converted 1930s shirt factory, so has the original pressed tin ceilings, huge timber beams, double and triple storey voids, pitched rooflines, and big windows onto the building courtyard.

The whole place is airconditioned but it's rarely needed, as being an old brick terrace it stays shockingly cool in summer. There's in floor heating so it's beautiful and cosy in winter too.

It’s open-plan, bright and leafy, with an eclectic mix of 50s to 80s vintage furniture, mirrors and art. There's either a balcony or courtyard on every floor, with your rooftop balcony getting lovely sun most of the day.

The kitchen’s all set up with a solid oven, gas cooktop, stone benches, handmade crockery, airfryer, blender etc. The open plan living room, kitchen and dining room take up the entirety of the middle floor, in between mine and yours.

There’s heaps of storage, and the building is small, secure, friendly and super quiet.

There's a cleaner, I take out the bins and pay the bills, so borderline serviced apartment vibes.

About occupants
Hi, I'm Chrissy.

I take dance classes four nights a week and am often out social dancing, so am really only in the living room to cook, and otherwise am out, sewing or asleep.

I love a bit of colour in my life (as you see from the photos), and am a keen sewist and knitter. I make or thrift all my clothes, and collect vintage sewing patterns. My perfect day is a heady mix of thrifting, sewing and roast dinner at the pub.

I'm a public servant and work from home in the sewing room three days a week.

Bobbin and I relocated from Marrickville, Sydney a year ago and adore it here.
Compatible people
It's a lovely building with kind and quiet neighbours, so it's important that our household honours that. For example, I watch films with headphones on, and don't have any parties louder than a dinner party, except for occasional and long planned blues dance party.

Kindness matters as much for a housemate as a neighbour, along with other easy-to-live-with characteristics such as being a good communicator, sense of humour, tact and friendliness.

I get a few Hello Fresh meal kits delivered each week, but otherwise tend to eat out. I'm up for a chat when we're both around, but very much know how to read the room.

Open to the occasional shared dinner or night out, depending our lifestyles and what works for both of us.
Description of pets
Bobbin is an icon.

He's a two year old toy poodle, well known to children in the neighbourhood, who he very obligingly lets pat him. He has a pink mohawk and gregarious nature, so there's no chance of accidentally tripping over him. Unusually for a small dog, you'll be pleased to hear he's largely mute.

When you come home, you will be greeted, and there's every chance he will make a solid attempt to jump into your arms, so consider yourself warned. He will otherwise give you space unless you specifically seek him out, as he generally flanks me wherever I go. There’s a baby gate at the bottom of your stairs, so you won’t wake up nose-to-nose with the poodle.

Bobbin would be psyched to have a doggy friend, and I'm also open to sharing dog walking duties, if that suits. For fellow dog lovers, we'd need to do a preliminary overnight hang to make sure they click, but Bobbin is super friendly, loves a good chase, and very good at sharing.

We are partial to couple dressing.
