Home Description

Description of the home

Warm in that 70s wooden decor kind of way! With mod-con underfloor heating...tick!

We have a large (unfurnished) room with a big window & built-in robes available from 18 May. Just a minute away from Lygon Street, Brunswick East with heaps of great restaurants, bars, cafes & gelaterias. We have the 1 & 6 tram stop a mere minute away & the 96 tram line is in close walking proximity. Plus a 12 minute walk to Sydney Road for the 19 tram/Upfield train.

The house itself is a prime example of the underrated 1970s Italian Palatial brick home, with chandeliers, archways, 70s tiles, a large backyard, vegetable garden (which Hannah has planted all kinds of things, even corn), fruit trees (fig, lemon, apricot, persimmon, olives etc), along with ample room for outdoor dining or mulled wine over a fire pit in winter.

Inside you'll find a fully furnished house (some things leaving with our outgoing flatmate though), including a large living room with a built-in bar, 2 bathrooms, laundry, small storage room, and an underfloor two-way central heating/cooling system throughout the house for cozy warming/ heat relief, as needed ($$). There's also an open plan kitchen and dining room with lots of sunlight, plants & their resulting good vibes.

There is an extra middle living room where Hannah works from home. I use a section of it for a creative work space which would become yours when I go. We can fit you in with an office space if you work from home.
****Note: this house may suit someone who works from the office/on-site at their job because the neighbours are building a house and construction is supposed to happen soon between 7am - 3pm weekdays.

We normally do our own thing with food but open to sitting down to share a meal & a drink because the house is too lush not to. Hannah and Steph both eats meat sometimes, so may not suit a vegan who requires a meat free kitchen.
Hannah has her pooch called Toby who is almost 17 years old and a Jack Russell cross. He sleeps beside her while she is working most of the day.

Ideally we're seeking someone independent, is into hobbies or their own interests (creative or otherwise!), friendly & has a good sense of humour. Besides that, if you're someone who cleans up after themselves & helps out with general housework without needing a roster, let's chat!

About the occupants
Melody (me) is moving out for a new chapter - and has loved living with these two awesome humans!

Hannah is a musician with a warm and friendly outlook and loves to garden - she has transformed our back garden with corn, lettuce, strawberries, herbs, tomatoes, and more! Usually Hannah is working from home or out at gigs with friends and occasionally tours her music to music festivals/events out of town. She will be away in May touring the UK -so you may meet virtually.

Steph works in social services and does not work from home most days. Steph has a personal training/fitness background as well and has taught us a few things! Music wise she is into Lauren Hill, Erykah Badu and other smooth operators.
Steph and Hannah both love to garden, walk the dog, train/exercise together in the back yard, or enjoy the bustling area that surrounds us!

Left leaning household, allies, creative.
Compatible people
We enjoy tidy/clean, creatives (or hobbyists), easy-going, fun/friendly people who take initiative. Downtime and quiet is welcome here as are lively friends on the patio for a nice wine. Green thumbs welcome! Looking for someone 30+ who is interested in longer term :)
Description of pets
Toby is a sweet boy who loves his human and follows her everywhere and will be a little sad when she leaves the house. He loves walks and sitting in the sun with people and is treat/food oriented. Has a lot of pep and will go on outdoor adventures at any chance! He is almost 17, so he is slowing down a lot lately.
