Home Description

Description of the home

Situated on beautiful Canning St, we have a room available in our delightful 4-bedroom terrace. Move in date between August 5th to 14th 2025 (earlier the better, but negotiable). Looking for a housemate in their 30s to join our lovely home.

Our house has high ceilings, big windows, a modern kitchen (with a dishwasher) and bathroom (plus a bonus toilet outside). We have a gas heater and A/C in the communal area. Outside is a little veggie patch and some space to enjoy the back courtyard, a shed with a small amount of storage space for your misc camping gear, and a cute spot out on the front patio for you to sit and watch the sun go down.

The housemate who is leaving has been here the longest and is taking some key items that we’re currently replacing (including the washing machine and kitchen table). We’re most interested in finding a good housemate match, but if you do have any furniture or appliances for communal use, do let us know.

Prime location on the bicycle superhighway - the quiet and leafy Canning Street. Carlton North is like a calm island to come home to after a long day at work (or evening out). We have great pubs, wine bars, a decent gym, excellent bakeries, and other Nicholson village treats nearby. Wander around the corner to find Edi Gardens, Neighbourhood Wine bar, Piedemontes, and all that North Fitzroy has to offer. A 15-20min leisurely bike ride into the city, a 4 minute walk to the 96 and under 10 min walk to the 1 and 6 trams.

About occupants
You’ll be living with three women in their 30s: Anneke, from NZ, who has just completed an PhD in Architecture and is recently big on line dancing; Belen, from Chile, who works in education and is in a band (you’ll sometimes hear her singing in the garden); and Suzy, a Melb local, who works in publishing and has more books than she can handle. We like socialising, but we also like having a quiet and relaxing space to come home to, especially on weekdays.
Compatible people
We’re looking for someone who is clean, honest and respectful about shared spaces, friendly and conversational and pays bills on time (you’ll also be required to go on the lease). LGBTQIA+ friendly, we’re a pretty progressive bunch. We love it here, and we hope you will too! So much so that you will ideally be looking to stay long term.
