Home Description

Description of the home

Hi all,

We’ve secured a rental property in Deer Park!
The property will be available from mid to late December, though we won’t be fully moving in until early to mid-January. We’re currently wrapping up commitments interstate, so we’ll be back and forth for a little while. If you'd like to know more about us, feel free to check out the “About the Flatmates” section.

ABOUT THE HOUSE
The house is currently unfurnished. We plan on furnishing the shared spaces, though we’re completely open to anyone who wants or needs to bring their own furniture - just note that bedrooms will need to be furnished by you.

It’s a double-storey home with a quirky hideaway under the staircase, which I have tentative plans on turning into a reading den/nook. If you’ve got any cooler ideas though I could be convinced! The garage is a large double space and could potentially be used for extra storage. The living and lounge areas are spacious and the kitchen… well it’s fine but nothing to brag about. The bedrooms include built-in robes and appear to be slightly larger than average (roughly 3.5m x 3.8m - we can confirm the exact measurements mid Dec).

We’re also walking distance to some local amenities such as:
- 5-minute walk to the supermarket & shopping centre
- 7-minute walk to train station
- 7-minute walk to gym (Derrimutt’s 24/7)
- 5-minute walk to GP
- 10-minute walk (strangely enough) to a trampoline park if that’s ever your vibe!

The price includes all bills (water, gas, electricity, and internet) plus general household items such as cleaning products, oil, toilet paper etc. The advertised price is for 4 people (including you and us). The price would be reduced if we add a 5th person as well.

POTENTIAL TENANTS
We’re currently looking for 2-3 additional housemates (bringing the house total to 4-5 people). We’re leaning towards people around 24-35 y/o but that’s not a hard-rule. If you’re outside that age bracket but feel you’d be a good fit we’d still love to hear from you! We’re pretty open to most people who want to come through (couples, backpackers, students, LGBTQIA+) so long as you share some of our values (below).

Let us know if you have any questions!

When you send us a message, please tell us a little bit about yourself.
No pressure to follow/answer these! They’re just guiding questions if you get stuck!
-What’s your occupation (studying/job)?
-What hobbies do you like/engage in?
-What do you like in a household?
-Did you spot any shared interests?

Home features

  • Clothes washer
  • Clothes dryer
  • Courtyard, garden or yard

Bills and expenses

All bills are included in rent, we would like to treat this more as a 'team-up' so if bills end up less than expected, we all get some money back :)

About occupants
Luke 30 y/o
I’m a teacher who’s moving for a contract in the Western Suburbs. Before that I was coaching gymnastics, though to be honest I'm not much of a flipper. I much more prefer being a monkey and having a climb. If you’re keen on bouldering I’d love a fellow weekend warrior!

I’ve got a bunch of different interests and barely enough time to play with them. I love skateboarding just as a big storm breaks. Juggling, though I’m more often dropping things than catching them. Reading fantasy novels - I also have a soft spot for science fiction work Murakami novels. I also enjoy a decent film and am keen to hear about your recommendations! Calvary (2014) & Nine Days (2020) are two of my favourites. I’m also keen on board games and I’ve developed a (very) reluctant interest in Magic the Gathering because of some previous housemates who took to running household tournaments.

I’m pretty sociable and like to have a chat or play but I think in my heart of hearts I’m more a of a hermit than a socialite.

I’ve lived in a variety of different share houses in the past – some incredibly social and others more reserved. I’ve enjoyed both a lot and most of my best friends are former housemates. I’m hoping to live with people who also want a happy, enjoyable household that prioritises communication and making comfortable space for everyone.

Rhi 27 y/o
I’m moving from Adelaide to Melbourne to start a graduate program at Jetstar! So… you could say I’m a bit of a plane nerd… or a nerd in general. Here in Adelaide, I’m a gymnastics coach as well – that’s how Luke and I met, but I reckon I can do a better flip than he can 👀

When I’m not at work, I like going to the gym (I’d love a buddy!), board games, languages, and the odd game of social table tennis. I’m also keen to explore Melbourne, so I’m up for joining someone on an activity or trying something new.

I’ve lived with housemates on and off for the past seven years, and I’ve realised I really enjoy a house with a bit of community - people who are happy to have a chat in the kitchen, share the odd board game, and keep things warm and easygoing.

I’m really excited to make some new friends in Melbourne. I’m also keen to try out all the Melbourne food spots, so if you’ve got favourites, I’m absolutely taking recommendations!
Compatible people
Cleanliness – We want people who clean-up after themselves, particularly their dishes! We’re also looking for people who are happy to contribute to shared chores i.e., mopping/vacuuming.
Sociability – You don’t have to be an extrovert! But we do enjoy a home where we can say hello, ask how your day was and have an occasional chat. No pressure but it’s an extra bonus if you’re down for a board game, or a shared meal every now and then.
Employment – We’d prefer someone who has a stable income or can prove they’ll be able to pay rent/expenses reliably. We’re okay if you’re a professional, a student, or working part-time!
