Hi, I'm Paul, I'm 53, a leftist, atheist, non-smoking, non-drinker. I like my home to be home, so housemate compatibility's a big factor for me. Which doesn't mean I'm looking for another leftist, atheist, non-drinker, etc - just that we don't want to spend our evenings hiding in our bedrooms and don't want you to feel like you have to, either. A cosy, comfortable, unjudgemental vibe is the goal.

I'm currently completing a PhD in Cinema Studies at Melbourne Uni, so at least for the next few months I'll be mainly at home. The place is big enough for two people who work from home to not get in each other's way, but I include the detail, in the interests of informed decision-making.

My passion is cinema. In my younger days I trained as an actor, even made a couple of films. Nowadays it's just watching and writing about them. I also love football (the Hawks, in case that changes things for anyone), puns, questions, conversation and argument, donuts and board games, kindness and David Foster Wallace.

Hi, I'm Leila, a 40+ visual artist, but I'm passionate about pretty much any creative activity - music, dance, cinema, reading, cooking. When I'm not at the gym or my studio, I tend to like home to be a place for relaxation and quiet downtime, but I'm usually up for a movie night or a sunny patio hang with whoever's around.

Our housemate is Amber (she/they), 40-something AuDHD postgrad studying plants, music nerd and creative dilettante. A night owl but quieter than the actual cats. Spends half their time overseas. Adores the location as a non-driver and lover of both nature and the urban delights of the inner north.

It's Amber's room that is available for the furnished sublet, as she'll be overseas from October until December or early January - there's some flexibility with dates if needed.

We're looking for an ongoing tenant, but will also consider short-termers. Reliable, respectful, honest are at the top of the list, obvs. Creative or, at least, receptive to the arts. No right-wingers (and, full disclosure, we find centrists pretty sketchy as well). Basically, we're pretty protective of our home - and are looking for someone compatible. We're looking for maturity, someone who doesn't need to be chased for the rent and understands the responsibilities of shared spaces.

Age doesn't matter. Gender doesn't matter - though we do tend to like girly men and boyish women. Non-smoking is preferred. We like people who talk when they have something to say. We like people who have something to say. Anyway, chances are that if you read our profiles and like the sound of us, then you're probably the kind of person we're looking for.

If your profile says nothing specific about who you are, we will likely delete it without a second reading. That's not meant to sound harsh or intolerant or anything, it's just the reality. 🙂

Two cats: Elliott, is almost 6, a ginger medium-hair who's used to having the run of the place. A bit of a lone-wolf, she's also a prima donna, won't tolerate being picked up, and doesn't even like being patted unless she's in the mood. She's capable of being very affectionate, but just doesn't necessarily express that in a way that a lot of people recognise. She's more just sort of around, and spends a fair amount of time outside, patrolling the rooftops.
Quinn, almost a year old, is a bit more rambunctious and still a bit of a homebody. Outrageously affectionate and won't take no for an answer when she wants to snuggle. They both roam pretty free around the house but we won't be offended if you want to shut them out of your room.
