Home Description

Description of the home

Welcome to our charming 1894 two-storey Victorian home, full of character and Private Garden. Built with triple brick, the house stays naturally cool in summer and warm in winter, offering comfort year-round.

Our home is split-level: my partner and I live downstairs in a self-contained space, while the upstairs level—accessible via a private entrance—is also fully self-contained. This spacious first-floor area includes a kitchen, dining/lounge, and bathroom, along with four bedrooms that accommodate up to five people.

The outdoor space is a standout feature! The large backyard is perfect for relaxing, with, outdoor seating, and a flourishing herb and vegetable garden, complemented by citrus trees. We also have a covered secure bike parking area.

While the upstairs bathroom retains its retro 1970s charm, it comes with both a bathtub and a shower—perfect for a relaxing soak after a long day.

Location-wise, you couldn’t ask for better! The house overlooks Royal Park, a vast green space with adventure playgrounds, BBQ facilities, public toilets, and scenic walking, running, and bike tracks.

Getting around is a breeze:
🚋 Three tram lines are just a 5-minute walk away, taking you to the city in 8-12 minutes.
🏫 Melbourne University is only a 5-minute walk from the house.
☕ Cafés, restaurants, 7-Eleven, and bottle shop are all within an 5-8-minute walk.
🌆 North Melbourne, Queen Victoria Market, Collingwood, and Fitzroy are all within a 15–20-minute walk.

It’s a fantastic place to call home, offering both tranquility and easy access to everything Melbourne has to offer.

About occupants
Hey there!

We’re Matt, Maxie, your future housemates at Gatehouse Street! We’ve been here for ages and love sharing this awesome space with like-minded people. We're working full-time in the city and from home 1-2 days a week, and enjoy real conversations, and discourse or just chilling in the garden. We live downstairs in a self-contained one-bedroom apartment.

Our upstairs, fully self-contained four-bedroom apartment has its own private entrance from Redpath Rise. There are three single rooms and one large room suitable for a couple or two friends.

Right now, we’ve got a great mix of housemates:

* Raj & Priya (early 30s): A former international student turned Aussie PR, working full-time in IT.
* James (late 20s): An Aussie balancing work and study.
Cosy Private room : Elise 20 female French exchange student.

* Balcony Private room Available Now!

We’re a chill, respectful household that loves good vibes—whether it’s cooking, relaxing in the garden, or just kicking back. We’re sociable and always up for a chat but also value personal space and downtime. Respectful visitors are welcome If you’ve got friends or family who want to drop by or stay over, that’s all good.

If this sounds like your kind of place, we’d love to hear from you.

Cheers,
The Gatehouse Crew 🏡🐾
