Home Description
Description of the home
House is an old, inter-war weatherboard house. This means it needs a little more love and DIY than other homes I’ve lived in.
There are some raised flowerbeds for veges if that’s your thing.
The house has smart lights that are automated with motion sensors, wall switches, and an app (Home Assistant).
I have all the stuff for the house;
• fridge
• kitchen appliances (kettle, toaster, standing mixer, microwave)
• washing machine
• dryer
• TV
• dining table
• couches
The home also has;
• reverse-cycle aircon in dining room and study
• study/craft room
• gas stove
• gas oven
• clothesline (hillshoist)
• security cameras outside
You just need to bring the stuff for your bedroom.
- or I can provide some furnishings if you require it.
Parking
Free, untimed, on street parking in a quiet street for you and/or guests.
You won’t always be able to get a park outside the front door, but it will be free and untimed, even if it is 20m away.
Public Transport
8 minute walk to Tottenham train station
Serviced by the Sunbury and Watergarden trains.
Three stops from the city loop.
The house is also a 5 min drive ($7.50 Rideshare) to/from Footscray Station, which has free parking (if you can get a spot) and trains to the CBD every 5 mins.
Rideshare to the CBD is $14-22. Depending on the specific location in the CBD.

You can either help maintain the garden or you can pay a gardener to cover your share. Lawns need to be mowed every 1-2 weeks, weeds kept away, trees clipped annually. Not a huge deal, but it needs to be done. There is a local gardening business that hires people with disability that has good rates.
If utilities increase in price, so does our weekly payments.
Food is extra/seperate.
Bond: $1630 (weekly rent for 30 days, not 4 weeks)
All bills/ expenses tracked using Splitwise.

I’ve been renting this house in West Footscray for 5 years. It’s a really lovely area. First place I’ve lived in as an adult where I know all my neighbours.
I like playing board games and watching sci-fi, dramas, and fantasy. Oh, and I’m a Eurovision fan.
This house is old, and there are times where it’s been easier to just learn how to fix things myself rather than have a tradie do a half-arsed job at it. Owning a hand drill and watching tutorials on YouTube has been strangely empowering.
My interest in gardening stems from “enlightened self interest”. I’ll do what I have to in small amounts so it’s not a nightmare later on. Otherwise I believe in Darwinian Gardening: only the plants that can survive my neglect and thrive on their own get to live. But if you like gardening and want to do something I’ll try to pitch in and help.
I work in the public service (Communications). I also look after dogs as a side hustle, so there is a variety of dogs that will stay here at any time.
I have a wheat/casein allergy, so I can’t eat most junk food. I don’t expect non-GF housemates to eat GF bread, but I do hope you’ll keep butter and other communal condiments crumb-free. Of course, if you’re coeliac or need a GF diet, then this is the place for you.
My current housemate is a mate I’ve know for over 15 years. After living together for 3 years he’s moving out to move in with his romantic partner (awwww!).
If you don’t like dogs, this is the wrong house for you.
You like your home to be clean and organised. So you’re pro-active about looking after the place. You’ll also put up with me decorating the home with seasonal decorations throughout the year (Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Eurovision, etc).
Pays rent without having to be asked for it.
Respects my food allergy (wheat) and will try to avoid cross-contamination. If you have a GF restriction, this is the house for you.
Little bit handy and will help fix things around the house when needed.
Will help maintain the gardens as necessary. If you like to garden, I will help you where I can with your projects.
You don’t judge someone for their culture or sexuality. But you will judge them if they wear socks with sandals, or if they use the wrong “your/you’re”.
I do dog-sitting as a side hustle. So there is a rotating door of random dogs that stay here when their owners need it. Some big, some small. They are all socialised and lovely.
