The Room
The master bedroom is spacious, with high ceilings and its own private balcony. It’s fully furnished with a queen bed (complete with a comfy mattress), a bedside table and lamp, space for your essentials, clothes hangers, and a desk area. The balcony has a table and chairs so you can enjoy a quiet moment surrounded by the large tree out front — always full of birds and life.

Our current flatmate is only moving out as she’s relocating to Bali, which gives you a sense of the kind of energy the room has held, earthy, healing, and a bit spiritual. While the chakra decor will head off with her, the house remains open-minded and respectful of that kind of vibe if it’s important to you.

The room faces west, but the large buildings across the road filter out the harshest summer sun while still allowing in warm light at the right times of day.

While it does face the street, traffic is minimal and slow-moving, and noise is rarely an issue. Just a heads-up: the housing commission across the road brings some of the usual city-life character and challenges — something to be aware of, but also part of the rich mix of living in this part of town.

Thanks to the terrace layout and orientation, the room holds its temperature well year-round — it rarely needs heating or cooling.

Home Description

Description of the home

We love our humble home and genuinely appreciate the chance to live here in Redfern. The house, like the neighbourhood, has its quirks, but we see them as part of its charm and character. If you appreciate a bit of personality in a place and don’t mind the odd imperfection, this might just be the home for you.
I’ve lived in Redfern for 6 years and in this house for 4 years and in the area all my life. This lovely terrace house is in a genuinely vibrant and welcoming area. The street itself is leafy and green, with cafes, local shops, and everything you need just around the corner. You’ll find parks, pools, cycle tracks, and excellent public transport all within easy reach, making it a perfect spot for both convenience and lifestyle.
The house is directly across from the housing commission, which brings some colourful local character, but overall it’s a peaceful and friendly street and an amazing area I love calling home.
The room for rent is the master bedroom, which comes fully furnished and includes its own balcony, perfect for a bit of sun or fresh air. We might need some new linen, but otherwise, it’s all ready to go.
The rest of the house is fully furnished and set up, so you can move in without stress. One thing to note is that the shared bathroom is downstairs (one of the quirks), located at the end of the kitchen, it also serves as the laundry and access to the backyard, which doesn’t get used much aside from hanging laundry.

About occupants
Hi, I’m Jeremy – creative, community-minded, and always cooking something!

I’m a self-employed creative entrepreneur working mostly in web (think eco-minded, people-focused, and a little bit designy). I work from home quite a bit—sometimes from my room, mostly from the couch—so a considerate and relaxed vibe at home is important.

My daughter, who’s in Year 7, lives with me full-time. She’s a bright, fun presence and pretty independent, so it’s definitely not a chaotic household, but worth knowing we’re a family home first and foremost.

I cook often (mostly vego), enjoy a shared meal when it works. I’m social but not a party animal, more into low-key dinners, conversation, and a bit of music now and then.

If you're looking for a homely space with good energy, a bit of creativity, and don’t mind the rhythms of a work-from-home dad with a cool kid, we might just get along.

Feel free to reach out with any questions or to come by for a chat and see if we’d make a good fit.

Cheers,
Jeremy
