Home Description

Description of the home

Welcome to our Surry Hills Victorian Manor! (our lil Bourke St Paradise). We have lived here for 5 years now and fortunate to call this place home, our sanctuary, after it was newly renovated (1890s grand terrace). Location location location! In the heart of Sydney, 10 mins walking to Central Station, a stone throw from every pub on Oxford and Crown St, whilst nestled within trendy cafes and fine dining - the best of both worlds! Gorge on Bourke St pastries, keep-cup your way through local cafes and stretch your active wear in Centennial Park!

The house is 3 storeys - a true Victorian beauty. Large white ceilings and arched doorways. Open planned living with a big kitchen. 1st floor features three rooms (including your room) with the central bathroom including bathtub and shower (all in original condition) + backyard features an additional outdoor renovated bathroom + laundry (washer and dryer). The top level is the loft - the fourth room. Backyard opens onto a shared laneway. Secluded get-away from city life in the background, with palm trees providing shade and serenity from the city life.

There is no set parking spot, but we have two car park permits and previous housemates with a car have never had an issue with getting a park on our street.

About occupants
Hello! I'm Michael (he/him, 29) a flamboyant and sarcastic Visual Arts High school teacher. I enjoy my wine, cat memes, attempts at baking, gallery hopping and proud plant mumma- but now I am also considering becoming a creative writer as I am enjoying this non-sexual tinder profile writing too much!

I live with Alice (she/her, 31) and Emily (she/her, 26). Alice is an ex-(R)Adelaidian architect/set designer, trivia guru, literature and rower extraordinaire. Em is a good-looking, wise-cracking, pipe-smoking New York detective who has yet to meet a case she cannot solve. (She is none of those things… just a sydney local working in theatre management who loves improv, comedy shows, and wiggling about onstage as a drag king).

We all are a sucker for a good glass (or 3) of wine, communal dinners and games night. You will find us at one of the many local pubs, gallery hunting or dining our way through the city. Very easy-going, foodies and we attempt to have a green-thumb by our numerous attempts to keep our ferns alive!

We love having friends over for dinner + drinks and will never say no to an impromptu loungeroom dance!
Compatible people
We are looking for someone to mesh with our lil family here - easy going, but keen for a laugh + wine(s). We are all working full-time professionals with busy schedules during the week, but will find us by night or weekends slumped on the lounge. No judgement!. We hope to find someone who will be our 4th person in weekend newspaper trivia but also respect our personal space. We hope to find someone wanting to stay long-term, to call this their home. We do have a weekly cleaning roster and expect someone to help contribute to the household chores and clean up after themselves. We have all meet each other through flatmates.finders and have become bffs since.

Please no DJers, baes with babies, anti-vaxers, disturbing food habits that will cause trauma for the house - all based on the previous flatemate.finder traumas!

Tell us about yourself and let's organise a time for you to check out the place and meet us!
