Mikaela: I am 32yo female and the owner/occupier of the house. I work long hours doing shift work (days and nights). On my days off, I usually spend time gardening, playing video games, doing Pilates, or doing little things around the house to make it more enjoyable for all of us to live in.

I am very proactive in making sure all the maintenance is done on the house, and respectful that your room is your space. There are no formal house inspections. We just clean up after ourselves and live in harmony. I want you to feel like it’s your home, so I don’t mind you making the space your own and hanging things up on the walls if it doesn’t leave permanent damage. We can also discuss painting walls etc. if you’re that-way-inclined.

Rory: I am a 36yo male and work afternoon shifts as a delivery driver. I like to spend my time off playing video games, playing guitar, and mucking around with the dogs. I also enjoy keeping active and working out in the outdoor gym at the house. There is a squat rack, incline bench, weights, and various other things in the gym, and I am happy for people to use it at their leisure. It’s great not having to leave the house to get a workout in!

I am a night owl, but respectful that everyone has their own schedule and try to be quiet after lights-out. I also keep my headphones on when I am playing video games in my room so that I am not disturbing others. I also play my guitar (acoustic) downstairs, in the gym, out outside if I play in the evenings.

We are looking for a considerate flatmate who is easy to get along with, cleans up after themselves, and loves dogs. We are both very relaxed people and have been cohabitating together for over a year, but friends for many years. Our other housemate left on great terms (moved to Brisbane for work) and she will be sorely missed. It’s great to have friendships with those you live with, but we are very respectful of others’ space and privacy. You are welcome to have people over, but neither of us are into the party lifestyle and we try to keep it low key in the home for everyone’s comfortability.

Ducky is a Kelpie x Silky Terrier and he is very outgoing, but not a hassle, and relaxed once he knows you are a new friend. He stays in Mikaela’s bedroom overnight but roams freely during the day.

Goose is a Ridgeback x Mastiff who is a big sook and lazy as. She is not a good guard dog at all, but she is very sweet and mild tempered and gets along well with Ducky. She stays in Rory’s room during the evenings and roams freely during the day.

The dogs are both short-haired and house trained and have a door-door so they can let themselves out into one of the courtyards as they please. Sometimes they join Rory when he is working out in the gym. Neither of them are yappy dogs, but Ducky will let us know if people get too close to the home.
