Home Description

Description of the home

***RARE*** Peaceful home to share, housemates usually stay longer than they intend to.

A beautiful Art Deco (California bungalow style) free-standing double brick home, original features. Is affordable due to a sunroom being converted into bedroom. Will suit a soul who has a young heart yet likes old school style of living. An inspiring place to live, a home vibe with charm, a living art piece that you can contribute to if you so desire. There are technically two bedrooms and the sunroom. The rent is super cheap to support affordable living, given it is a long term rental and the sunroom being used as a bedroom. The home is a rare find in terms of character and value for money for the neighbourhood.

About the occupants
My name is Sophia (friends call me Sof or Soph), I have the mind and heart of a teen-elder (my own made-up term), wisdom of a wombat and aspire to have patience of a penguin. I would describe the home style as 'bohemian' with touches of 'warrior'. I'm a first born Aussie, mixed European heritage; Georgian, French & Ukrainian. This can translate to me being direct and upfront, straight shooter (or slightly ADHD, not sure). However, I'm always a respectful communicator, active listening and attentive. My key strength includes accepting people for who they are with no judgment. Not a daily drinker, however, on occasion I have a tendency to pull together mean espresso martini's.

My main goal is to live life in harmony, seek consciousness and to promote kindness, love stoic philosophy and seek to live by their virtues. Inspired by ayurvedic way of living, my weekly food mostly comes from the backyard/earth (fruit and vegetables). Mostly vegetarian, however I can treat myself with bangers and mash or spag bol. I cook on the nights Andrea is in Mon & Tue. For fun work I have an art business oart, supporting a talented artist/producer team in presenting Music Theatre based on traditional knowledge. For my vocation, work full-time as Project Lead for Disability and Age care service provider. I did recently attempt a career change to study full time for six months Cert IV - Mental Health, I have since realised the overall system of care does align with my personal beliefs. As a hobby work project I volunteer for Australian Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Practitioners (AMAPP) in developing their strategy and supporting Board Governance.

Andrea is a part-time homie - German born - Aussie citizen - Kindergarten teacher - part-time schedule as a homie - here every Mon-Tue and every second weekend (though usually away camping etc). Earlier this year Andrea walked the Camino Santiago quest, she can fill you in. Andrea love's camping, walking tracking and doing side-trance festivals like Confest, Renaissance etc etc.
Compatible people
This has been a share home for many years, hosting many peeps from all over the world, some short-term - some long-term. From all walks of life and all ages, often share with international travellers knowledge seekers and/or Monash/Swinburne students given the handy location. We're a drama-free and social home, sharing just enough of each other's lives and encountering some shared experiences that allow us to live harmoniously, respectfully and with genuine care.
The best home vibes are those based on general social intelligence, including having time to converse beyond talking about the weather. Equally important, is open communication and living with humans who can contribute to living at a common agreed standard.

I would prefer to share the home with like-minded humans who are conscious consumers for the sake of the planet, their health and humanity. Pain points for me include over packaged goods, plastic packaging, chemical toxic cleaning stuff and CAGED eggs.

We live a chilled life full of harmony, no bad vibes, open and frank discussions and peaceful evenings, some good tunes on the weekend. I love listening to community radio PBS or RRR, when there is screen time TV, my preference is to watch doco’s or something that is going to help me understand the world or myself better SBSondemand, ABCiview, Hotdoc's. My guilty viewing pleasure for trash tv is 'Bondi rescue', I love observing how the lifesavers work as a team and manage stress! We often binge a movie Mon- Tue nights when Andrea ‘in d house’!
Description of pets
Kransky is a Chiweenie, he is a part-time visitor to the home. He loves sleeping, sunbaking and licking his pet stuffed mousie, who is armless and only has one leg left. Kransky will always welcome you home when you arrive and if you are really kind to him, he will love you forever.
