Home Description

Description of the home

Two-story townhouse with ground floor entrance right onto Balfe Park. The building is only three years old and is impressively designed, with polished concrete and hardwood floors, marble benchtops, a red brick feature areas. Kitchen includes fantastic smeg appliances and a generous built in fridge/freezer, and both floors have ducted heating. A small courtyard at the rear gets morning sun.

The whole house is fully furnished (as pictured) except for the bedroom which is empty (picture shows it with a bed and bedside tables for reference).

Building amenities include a rooftop BBQ area with city views, and a shared hub/workspace with lounge area, tables, and a kitchenette. The apartment comes with a carspace that I don't use so is available for you.

Couldn't ask for a better location! Brunswick East Village is at the end of the driveway (Coles, bottleshop, pharmacy, cinema, restaurants, gym, etc), and the 96 tram is right out front - only a 22 minute ride into the CBD. A short walk to the heart of Lygon Street, and bit more of a stroll to Sydney Road and Barkly Square shopping centre. And of course, Balfe Park is right on the doorstep (literally).

About occupants
Hi I'm Josh, 38 years old, and have been living in Melbourne for five years, and this house for two - originally I'm from Tasmania. I've worked in the performing arts my whole career, first as an Artistic Director/Choreographer and then as CEO of a peak body, and I've recently completed an MBA.

I'm quite a social person with many friends, but also appreciate a lot of quiet downtime at home. When I'm out I like to see a lot of live performance (theatre, dance, circus, comedy, musicals), try different restaurants and bars, and go out for a late night dance. At home I'm a casual video gamer, read (mostly fantasy), maintain the garden, and occasionally have a wine while playing Florence and the Machine at a respectably loud volume. My current special interest is tea, and so I have a lot of it (you're welcome to try!). I ride a motorbike with occasional road trips out of the city, and a pretty big world traveller, and try to get overseas 1-2 times a year.
Compatible people
It's important to me that we get along as flatmates - I'd love to have chats, knockoff drinks, and do things together when we feel like it, but also respect that we have our own lives and to allow for personal space and privacy when needed. I'll occasionally have friends over and you can do the same, but it's not a party house.

Keeping the house clean and clutter free is a priority, but I'm totally fine with some dishes not being done or a bench not wiped when we're feeling lazy, as long as it's done eventually.

Good and ongoing communication and trust is important, especially around shared areas and making sure each of us is comfortable in the house.
Description of pets
Boomi is a 5-year old Bombay cat. He prefers to be in the same room as people but a few metres away so he can keep an eye on the action. While he's not super affectionate, he'll probably follow you around and maybe even give you a cuddle if you sit on the couch with a blanket. The back courtyard is netted off so he can spend time outside, but other than that he is an indoor cat. If you're the first one awake in the morning he'll probably expect you to feed him, otherwise you'll get meowed at.
