Description of the home

Terrific, large and fully furnished 3 bedroom freestanding house in the St Kilda end of Elwood, just down from the St Kilda Botanical Gardens. Affectionately known as the "Blue Hippo", this house has a separate toilet and one shared bathroom which includes separate shower and sunken bath. The house is furnished including dinner table, couches, washing machine, BBQ, cookery, crockery, cutlery, etc.

The living spaces are also big and spacious. Kitchen is very good with stone bench-tops, gas cooktop, electric oven and dishwasher. Gas ducted heating keeps you warm in winter. Double brick construction keeps it relatively cool in summer. There are 2 outdoor areas, with a large front porch and a secluded back yard. Free street parking - no permits or restrictions.

The home is an old gem with the oversized rooms and a few period features, but has a modern kitchen and ducted heating. It's a great place to call home.

Within walking distance of trams, trains, shops, cafes, restaurants, botanical gardens, Acland Street, Carlisle Street, beach etc.

Bills and expenses

All bills are shared evenly between the number of residents. There are two other people living in the house, so all bills will be shared between three.
Internet is $65 per month.
Gas varies over the year, but averages out to about $90 per month. Same for electricity.
Water is usually around $120 for 3 months.
Rate for the room is $1050 per month for a single, payable monthly in advance with a $1050 bond.
