Home Description

Description of the home

The house is quirky but homey. The carpet isn't amazing but we put rugs down in most of the rooms and we found a way to hang curtains without marking the walls which has really helped with heat/cold.

There is a reverse cycle air conditioner/heater in the main room and we have little fan heaters in the bedrooms and bathroom.

The oven was brand new a few months ago. And we replaced the shower head so the water pressure is really good. There is technically a bath we just never use it.

For suburbia, it's a fairly large, fully-fenced backyard. But it's flat which makes it easy to maintain. The neighbors are lovely.

About the occupants
Hi Guys,
I'm Emma. I'm a 32-year-old female, single, Christian. I have dyslexia so apologies in advance for my spelling bloopers. For work, I run my own business as a musician and music teacher which means my hours are unusual, as I work most evenings and weekends. We did have a cat, Caspian but sadly he is no longer with us. Half the lounge room is taken up with music gear so it kind of doubles as a rehearsal space and loungeroom but I try to keep music-making endeavors to during business hours. Outside of work and church, I don't go out much. I'm a homebody who is content with my own company. But I do enjoy the garden and I share the produce with my housemate. I also love all things creative, painting, spoken word, woodwork, etc. I would describe myself as messy but not dirty. And then I stress/comfort clean which I think my housemate appreciates.

Katie is an English/History teacher at a Christian College. She is amazing and has her life together so is building a house which should be ready in the next few months. Unfortunately, Katie's new house is too far away from where I work hence I am looking for another housemate. Katie is basically the perfect housemate, easygoing, sometimes messy but not dirty, and tolerant of all my creative endeavors. She enjoys reading, sewing, socializing with church friends, cats, and Studio Ghibli.

The house is a 3 bedroom house so the idea is we find a 3rd housemate and then once Katie moves out we will return to being a 2 housemate household. At the moment the spare room (which we affectionately call 'spare oom') has a lounge chair, a painting table and a desk we never use but we can store it all elsewhere. Our dining table is currently a sewing table but we make it usable when we need to.
Compatible people
Aside from my music, we are a fairly quiet household. Would prefer a female of any age. We enjoy chatting together and watching movies, we like to be friends and housemates but we also respect each other's privacy and space. We share the chores, do our own meals but share things like milk and rice, etc. Ideally, we'd like someone who shares our Christian values. And we're happy for you to have friends over occasionally we just let each other know beforehand.

We don't have a dishwasher but do the dishes every couple of days unless we do a big cook-up. The general rule is when we run out of teaspoons it's time to do dishes. It works because we both pull our weight and both take initiative.
