Home Description

Description of the home

The house is in a quiet complex in Maryville and has a really relaxed feel to it. It’s the kind of place that’s easy to come home to after work and unwind.

We’re only a few minutes from Newcastle CBD, Honeysuckle and the harbour, with supermarkets, cafes, gyms and public transport all close by. The Maryville Tavern is a 2-minute walk away, and there are great walking paths along Throsby Creek nearby.

The house is spacious, comfortable and gets plenty of natural light. We’re looking for someone who wants a friendly, easy-going place to call home rather than just somewhere to rent a room. 😊

About occupants
We’re Jodie and Bonnie — best friends since high school (so over 13 years of chaos, support and shared life decisions we mostly stand by).

We’re pretty laid-back, both working full-time and very much in our “home is for winding down” era. Weekdays are usually work, gym/walks, cooking something decent (or attempting to), and a solid couch situation. Weekends are more brunch, beach walks, catching up with friends or exploring Newcastle, we’re not party people, but love a drink and a good night out at a local bar!

We keep things clean and respectful, but not in a stressful or overly rigid way, just a comfortable, easy home where everyone does their bit.

Also living with us is Martha, our tiny Maltese x Shih Tzu who is basically a sleepy little potato. She’s quiet, friendly, loves a sun spot, and comes with a strict “no drama” policy.

We’re looking for someone who wants a calm, friendly home and doesn’t mind a chat in the kitchen now and then, but also values their own space.
Compatible people
A good flatmate is just someone who’s easy to live with, respectful, clean-ish in shared spaces, and communicates if something’s up. Pays rent on time, doesn’t make the place feel stressful, and is generally just good energy to have around. Bonus if they’re up for a chat now and then but also happy doing their own thing.
Description of pets
Martha is my 10-year-old Maltese x Shih Tzu and honestly the easiest little housemate you’ll ever meet. She’s tiny, super quiet, never barks and is very used to apartment living. Most of her day is spent sleeping in a sunny spot or following me around the house.

She’s well-trained, goes to daycare when I’m at work, and has never had any issues in shared homes. She’s friendly, calm and just loves a relaxed environment.
