Home Description
Description of the home
THE APARTMENT
Three-bedroom light-filled 6th floor unit, a stone's throw from the University of Sydney and (slightly up the road from being) slap-bang in the middle of Newtown proper.
(If any of these are helpful landmarks: we're next to The Vanguard and Astro's, up the road from Corridor and Fabrico, and across the road from Krama Yoga...)
If the living room could talk, it would boast to you about its ability to turn sad houseplants into a thriving plant party, which is awesome... and equally verges on being a part-time job (but not a job you would be required to do!).
If the houseplants could talk they would be disgruntled that two goofy floofs of the feline variety are allowed to chew on their fabulous shiny leaves.
The cats CAN talk, but they absolutely do not care what the plants think of them.
What else? We have an art corner! Loads of arts and crafty stuff that you'd be welcome to play with. We have a lonely and much-ignored sewing machine (which we will probably put away if you don't want to use it). We have a much loved piano (keyboard), oh and we have a nice-sized balcony that overlooks Newtown and has a view of the city.
SUNSETS!!!
These are glorious. Totally worthy of their own section here with a header in all-caps and three exclamation points.
KITCHEN
Well-equipped. Espresso COFFEE MAKER (delicious all-caps) and bean grinder and various other coffee-making apparatuses (apparati?) as you may desire.
Dishwasher, double sink, and a shiny NEW big fridge that is cold and has four feet and a freezer that you can open at will.
BATHROOMS
There are two. Ky has an ensuite, and you'll share a large bathroom (with bath and shower) with Fung.
LAUNDRY
Yep. with front loader and dryer.
HEATING
There's air con in the loungeroom and we use oil heaters in our rooms, but it's not a super cold flat.
BILLS
Unlimited fast Internet and water are included in the rent. Other bills (e.g. electricity and gas) are shared. Rent is paid fortnightly in advance.
SHOPS
We're perched directly above an IGA and Miracle Supermarket, and being Newtown, there is an abundance of cafes, shopping etc. You could swing a martini and hit a dozen bars, or a sweaty towel and hit at least three gyms.
TRANSPORT
BUSES: There are a bunch of buses that leave from out the front of the building.
TRAINS: 8-12 mins walk from two train stations (Newtown Station is 850m down King St, and McDonaldtown Station is 600m).

Ky and Fung are both full-time students at USyd.
Purr Juno (the void) and Charlie Meow (the cloud) are both full-time cats (they 'work' from home)
Ky (she/her):
is a researcher and studying a PhD in the acquired brain injury communication lab at USyd. I'm switching to first person now because third person is starting to feel weird! So... in a not weird way – Hi i'm Ky. I'm a bit of a nerd. I have an impractical number of hobbies and they're all my favourite!
Fung (she/her):
is a Master of Design student at the University of Sydney with a passion for creativity and visual storytelling. She occasionally works as a graphic and digital designer and spends her free time painting, making films, hiking, and bouldering. She loves exploring new ideas and learning new skills.
We are night owls (you don't have to be to live here!). In fact, if you like the mornings, you can have them all to yourself. We are generally completely useless human voids until mid-morning when we float towards the coffee machine where motivation lives.
We love good coffee beans and are thinking of getting a subscription if you have any good suggestions!
We don't want to be prescriptive about who you are, so forgive us if this section sounds a little 'US US US' focused. But it's probably easier to judge whether you want to share a house with us if we just braindump a brief overshare of who we are!
In full recognition that EVERY profile says these next words... we really are 'easy-going' and 'friendly'.
Bordering on obnoxiously so.
We take after the cats in not really caring too much about the little things.
Things we do care about:
We are creatures who love our own space and downtime and respect each others’ need for home to be a safe, drama free environment. We occasionally have mates over, but in general, home is for chilling out away from the crowds.
We do enjoy a wine and chitchat together from time to time!
Things you should know:
Fung and Ky tend to be active at night, in a quiet, writing / crafting / videogaming / movies-on-laptops kind of way. So a morning person gets the place to themselves at dawn (our current housemate works 9-5 and enjoys this!). And a fellow night owl will feel solidarity when raiding the fridge for snacks at 1am. The place has bunker-worthy concrete walls so sound doesn't travel much and we don't tend to disturb each other. Either way, you'll fit.
